Vision, Team & history

our heart for Scotland
The heart and vision behind Altars Scotland is to see pastors, ministers, church leaders, and leadership teams envisioned and equipped to rediscover the importance, centrality, and priority of prayer and worship in the life of the local church.
God’s people need to be reminded of the priesthood of all believers, and the fact God calls us all to pray and contend for revival in the church and reformation in our communities.
our heart for Scotland
The vision of Altars Conference was birthed out of Pastor Jon Tyson and his ministry through Church of The City, New York and pray.nyc. Jon has lived his whole life and ministry with a passion for revival. In 2018 he visited The Outer Hebrides and met with some of the few remaining people who were saved in the Hebrides Revival (1949-52). This visit marked Jon.
He visited Lewis again in 2021 and had a profound encounter with God when he attended a prayer meeting of those who are contending for a fresh move of God in our day.
It was through these visits and God encounters that God marked Jon with this truth – ‘God comes where He’s wanted!’ Jon saw that the people of The Hebrides were led by God in a sovereign way to build four altars of worship and prayer. The altar of the heart; the altar of the home and family; the altar of the church; and the altar of the region. Altars Conference flowed out of this.
Those involved in leading Altars Scotland found God bringing them together around the concept of rebuilding the altars of prayer and worship in churches throughout our land. They attended Altars Conference in New York where God cemented this vision in their hearts.
